Orthopaedics is a medical discipline concerned with conditions and injuries that affect the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves).
You may be referred to an orthopaedic consultant for diagnosis and treatment if you’ve a problem with your spine, shoulders, knees, hips, elbows, hands, wrists, feet and ankles. Most of our orthopaedic surgeons have a special interest in an area of the body such as foot and ankle or hips. They’re supported by a multidisciplinary team including specialist orthopaedic nursing staff, consultant anaesthetists and radiologists, and chartered physiotherapists.
If you’ve an injury such as a bone fracture, a deformity of the spine or limbs or a long-term condition such as osteoarthritis our specialists at Winfield Hospital will be able to help.
Initially you’ll be individually assessed and any required investigative tests undertaken to help your orthopaedic consultant make a diagnosis. They’ll discuss in detail a proposed plan to manage your condition, offering both non-surgical and surgical treatment as required. Following surgery, our accomplished physiotherapists will support you to help you recover as quickly as possible.
At Winfield Hospital we offer a fast and reliable orthopaedic service throughout your care with the aim to relieve pain and increase mobility that’s caused by musculoskeletal disease or injury.
