Face surgery is designed to restore a fresher and younger looking face or change a feature that you’re not happy with.
As the face is such a prominent part of your body and it’s often exposed to the elements it’s not surprising that cosmetic facial surgery is one of our most popular cosmetic surgeries. Men and women of all ages choose facial surgery to achieve a more visually attractive facial look.
There are many reasons for having cosmetic facial surgery. You may have protruding ears or an irregular nose shape or your skin might be prematurely ageing due to too much sun exposure, smoking, stress and significant weight loss and looks sagging, sunken, lined and wrinkled. Here at Winfield Hospital we will work with you to ensure we create the desired look you want. Our cosmetic facial surgeons have vast experience so you can rest assured you’re in safe hands.
At Winfield Hospital the cosmetic surgeries we regularly perform include: facelifts, eye bag and eyelid surgeries, brow lifts, nose reshaping and ear corrections. We also offer many non-surgical cosmetic treatments for the face such as: muscle relaxing injections and dermal fillers, facial peels, acne treatment, laser skin resurfacing and pulsar hair removal.
A facelift (rhytidectomy) can reduce sagging skin and eliminate lines and wrinkles. It aims to revitalise your face so that it looks younger and smoother.
People often feel self-conscious about aging that shows on the face. Some life events may cause you to prematurely age such as losing a substantial amount of weight, smoking or over exposure to the sun and may cause a lack of self-esteem. A facelift can help resolve these problems and may increase self-confidence.
A facelift is performed under general anaesthetic by making small incisions in your hair line and around your ears. The underlying muscles are tightened and excess facial skin removed. The remaining skin is then sutured into place. The whole procedure takes about four hours.
A blepharoplasty is also known as eye bag removal or eyelid surgery. It involves removing excess lose skin and repositioning fat around the eye. It aims to smooth out lined and baggy skin to make your eyes look younger and fresher. Eyelid surgery can also improve your sight if you’ve sagging upper eyelids that obstruct part of your vision.
An upper blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery that removes loose or hanging skin on your upper eyelid area. A lower blepharoplasty is eye bag surgery and removes the bags under your eyes. You may choose to have one or the other or both. A blepharoplasty is performed as a day case procedure under general anaesthetic and takes one to two hours.
As you get older the skin on your face can start to lose elasticity, resulting in sagging and drooping facial skin including the skin around your eyes. Eyebrow lift surgery can help to tighten the skin, reduce frown lines and wrinkles on your forehead and remove the “hoods” that can appear over the eyes that make them look tired.
An eyebrow lift or hitch creates an arch in your eyebrow and opens up your eye area resulting in a younger and more feminine look.
An eyebrow hitch can be performed in several ways under local anaesthetic and normally takes thirty minutes. Often a brow lift is combined with an upper blepharoplasty.
Rhinoplasty is nose surgery to improve the size or shape of your nose. It’s often called nose reshaping or a nose job. You may choose to have rhinoplasty if you’re not content with the size or shape of your nose. It may be that you were born with a nose that is large, small or irregularly shaped or it may have changed shape following an injury. Whether your nose shape is from birth or following an injury, rhinoplasty can change this and improve your confidence.
A reduction rhinoplasty will make your nose smaller by removing or reshaping bone and cartilage in your nose. An augmentation rhinoplasty enlarges your nose by reshaping the bone and cartilage in your nose or using a graft of extra bone or cartilage.
A rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthetic and takes up to three hours.
An otoplasty is ear correction cosmetic surgery. It aims to pin back ears that stick out too much, reduce the size of large ears and reshape irregular shaped ears so that they are not as prominent and look more aesthetically pleasing. This may reduce emotional distress around ear size or shape and increase self-confidence.
Otoplasty is performed under general anaesthetic as a day case procedure. Your cosmetic surgeon will move your ears into a more natural looking position closer to your head or remove and adjust the shape of the cartilage in your ears. One small incision is used to do this which is behind your ear to hide any scarring.
