Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology covers diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract), an organ system responsible for transporting and digesting food, absorbing nutrients, and processing waste. It includes the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. Gastroenterology has a large component of chronic disease, much of which requires long term monitoring and active treatment.

Here at Winfield Hospital we provide a full and first class range of diagnostics and treatment for GI tract conditions.

Our endoscopy services include: colonoscopy for the large bowel, gastroscopy for the oesophagus and stomach and, ERCP for the pancreas and main bile ducts. Our endoscopy department is JAG accredited (Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy) which demonstrates our competence in delivering an endoscopy service against measures which form the endoscopy global rating scale. We are the only private hospital in the Gloucestershire area to be JAG accredited. We also use the latest Olympus Scopeguide technology that offers a real-time 3D images of the shape and configuration of the colonoscope inside the body as well as video capsule endoscopy.

We are committed to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of common digestive complaints such as acid reflux, heartburn and irritable bowel disease, along with chronic conditions like Crohn’s disease and digestive cancers.

Our gastroenterology team includes highly regarded and skilled consultant gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, bariatric surgeons and specialist dieticians. The following Gastroenterologists offer a range of procedures at Winfield hospital
